I am a 38 year old stay at home mom, mother of 2 children ages 7 and 10 one of which is autistic.
I was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) AKA Multiple Personality Disorder. I have been stable for over a year now.
My stability came when my son was diagnosed with Autism. I wrote a letter to my “alters” stating that I needed to concentrate on my son and family. I made the choice to be stable. In order to maintain stability, I have used DBT (Dialectal Behavorial Therapy) skills I learned while at a research study thru University of Washington. I use the skills on a daily basis to get thru my day and the challenges each day brings.
I have also maintained stability thru my personal faith, and love and support from friends and family.
