Matthew's Mental Health Poems (continued)

Poem 33 Voluntary Work Helps My Life

VOLUNTARY  WORK  HELPS  MY  LIFE

I have been doing Voluntary Work for Many Years now.

My Mental Health Problems which are Also,

Mentioned about in my Poetry Book,

“SOME OF THESE MAKE SENSE, SOME OF THEM DONT,

BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT LIFE IS.”

Post Traumatic Stress, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder,

Depression not Clinical and Schizophrenia.

Pricing Books for a Local Hospice and working on the Till,

Another Charity Shop Pricing Dvd’s, Computer Games and CD’s.

Welcomer at a Cathedral, telling History,

from Roman Times to the Present.

18th Century Church near my Address, again talking History,

Which is what my Degree was in.

15th Century National Trust Property, Room Steward,

telling them about objects from different Countries and Time Spans.

I Enjoy all the Above, not easy not understanding Architecture.

Times when ILL, gone in, better than Rotting at Home.

Thanks Tablets making Me Well enough Working at 6 Different Places.

Went into Heritage to Work in “EDUCATION,”

which only Ends when You Die.

Attended Interviews and not Well Enough to do Paid Work,

Hopefully will Change, but in Voluntary Work, I Control the Time.

Paid Work You are Accountable for Every Second being Spied Upon.

 poem 34

MY  DEPRESSION

I Know and Have been Told,

“You do not have Clinical Depression.”

Which I am Very Pleased about.

My Depression is Imagining Building a Cake of Life,

Each slice putting in a Venture,

Which is Commercial in Human Life.

Married, Voluntary Work, Driving a Car, Varied Social Activities.

Wife And I Cannot Risk Passing on Mental Health Problems,

To Any Potential Children, So I Have A Vasectomy.

I Am Not Working Full Time,

Nor Done Paid Work, in Many Years.

I Feel Depressed Having Been Diagnosed With Schizophrenia,

It Has Made Even Looking For Paid Work Much Harder,

As Some Of My Other Mental Health Poems Hopefully Explain.

Very Happy Life, I Treat My Mental Health Problems AS AN Adventure,

Needing These Daily Depression Tablets To Help Achieve That.

Duloxetine, Taking 2 in the Morning,

Busperone For Anxiety, 1 Morning And 1 At Night.

“They are Really Really Helping My Life.”

         Poem 35

MATTHEW  WHAT  ARE  YOUR COPING STRATEGIES

                   DEALING WITH MENTAL HEALTH?

Meditation on My Own, opening or closing Eyes,

Imagining Jesus Walking On the Water towards Me.

Village We Live in, Beth and I walking,

Mindfulness, Shape, Type of Trees, Talking about it.

My Wife Has Mental Health Problems,

I Love Her Lots.

Watching Science Fiction, Fantasy, Comedy, Drama Films.

Amazing how often I Turn TV News by chance,

Violent Imagery, Beth Turns it off without Permission,

More often now so do I, Thank You Beth.

Thank You for Loving Me.

Keeping Fit, Maximum Dose Tablets, My Schizophrenia.

Play Badminton, Tennis Singles, Exercise bike,

Latter Losing nearly 400 Calories in Half Hour.

Hardly Missed Exercising day, since Diagnosed-Schizophrenia ,

Many Moons Ago.

Do Not want to be Fat and Die Early.

Poetry, Getting Mental Episodes Out of Myself like this One.

Discipline Matthew, Cannot Just Write on Anything.

There are Checks in The Poetry World,

As well as The Real World.

Meeting Friends, Family, Finding Out about Their Lives,

Cultural Events, Beth I, Lucky Uncle Gives us,

A few Theatre Events Per Year and Free Cinema,

Museums, Art galleries, I Read Little of Text.

Whoever Reads this, Hope it can Help, Others Too.

 poem 36

Thank you to People Who Have Helped Me With My Mental Health Problems

Thank you to So Many people,

For Helping Me With My Mental health Problems,

Life Without You would be a Permanent Dent,

In My Head and Staying in Many days in Bed.

Tablets Have kept Me out of Hospital a Great Deal.

And Have Allowed me to go to Voluntary Work,

Every Day – Monday to Friday Over Many Years.

Keep On Going to Church, Voluntary Work,

Meeting Family and Friends.

One Has to Keep on Going Day After Day,

Alternative Much Bleaker Than What I am Now.
