My Story
Hi my name is Stephanie. I’m on the Autism Spectrum and I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
I can be sensitive to noises and large crowds. When I was little I had delays. I had to do physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. I didn’t speak until I was 4 years old. I really enjoy listening to music and playing guitar. Autism doesn’t define me. It’s just who I am.
I was adopted from the Ukraine and was separated from my twin sister. When I first moved to Massachusetts I didn’t know what was going on around me. When I started school I was anxious about meeting new people. At times I was shy in certain situations. When I was 7 my father passed away from cancer. After he passed away my anxiety got worse. After my dad died I became depressed. I used to be afraid to be alone. In school I was being picked on from time to time. I remembered I used to not like who I was but, after I got help, I felt happier and stronger. I realize my diagnoses will help me move forward in life.
I want to let everyone know there’s help out there. Don’t be ashamed of what you are going through.
I’m trying to support the ones who going through a rough time
I Am Stigma Free!!!
