I was diagnosed with mental Illness while in High School. I spent the rest of my teen years in and out of Mental Health facilities. I was first thought to have Schizophrenia because I heard voices. I was on numerous medications. I didn’t
finish high school because of my mental illness which wasn’t under control well. I did manage to get my GED however in 1993 with the help of a caring friend.I was finally diagnosed with Depression and found the right medication I was on for years. When I lost my SSI I had to stop my medication. I was re-diagnosed with Depression and Anxiety a year ago and am now on medication that helps me. My parents died so at 45 I had to move from my parents home to a Personal Care Home. The Personal Care Home I am at now is where I am happy at. I go to Peer Support 3 days a week and take my medication. I am now hoping to become a published writer.
