In March 2000, I was hospitalized for 3 weeks on the psych floor. I didn’t respond to the medication. My dr called my husband and said, your wife is not responding to her meds, the only hope I see is giving her ECT’s. I had several while in the hospital.

After three weeks, I came home from the hospital, in all total I had 12 ECT’s. Each time they give you an ECT treatment you are put to sleep. About 7 years ago I came off all of my meds, and became bipolar.
Worse decision of my life. It has been 4 years now, back on the same meds, I was on. I am stable.
I have learned a lot thru reading!
1. Learn your triggers
2. Get a good dr
3. Try to get your family to educate themselves, my husband still isn’t where he needs to be with his understanding of bipolar.
4. My hope, Faith and trust in God is been my 100 percent support.
5. We are not monsters.
6. People who have not lived it, do not understand, and it is ok. You do better when you know better.
7. You have to help yourself first, before you can help yourself.
