Echoes of dawn

amidst the strife of life become
the journey ends yet second to none
this well that holds on promises to wallow
only to stay, betray and end in sorrow

why worry when it breaks, clings deep
the pain and scarce entities - lifes’ cheats
pondering the reasons why things are so
drowning, suffering, writhing this heartfelt blow

this river hums its placid songs
the crows keep weeping sadly in throngs
to yearn for life anew and hope
despite the instinct to hate - gloat

against ones pride she stays, she seeks
the one of all who’s anything but meek
the one whose trust bore gaping holes
to test the tide, through time, through ghosts

this one allowed to stay, to breed
vulnerabilities questioned none - New creed
tabula rasa it’s once again agreed
only to break the pact to willingly concede

Now once again the trail sets sea
another slate, more woes, more chains to free
a path dare we to tread not lightly
against all odds, clinging to blind loyalty
