Im Lerato from South Africa. I often read about depression when I’m feeling down and hopeless hoping I’ll discover more details about my mental condition. For the most part today(16 July 2019) I came across this article. I have anhedonia depression diagnosed at 28 years of age. My psychiatrist has me on chronic medication(citraz antidepressants) I feel fine until there’s a huge change in my life like now I feel debilitated by having no job. In my head no job means no money no livelihood and I know it’s not the end of the world but it feels like it is to me. Making me more anxious and frozen with fear. I also find that there’s an advanced handling and systems that can detect more of mental issues rather in developed countries like America and Europe than developing ones like Africa. I found it interesting that you can get assistance financially from the state for having a mental disorder and still be considered to fuction(work) in the economy. In South Africa companies reject you if you’re open about your mental health, they consider you defective and would rather pass. It’s a shame. So support lacks, only for those non-profit organisation’s that will help with speaking about awareness about it to similar people in your conditions outside of that your on your own. I have found comfort in knowing that I’m not the only one suffering.
