Don’t let anyone make you feel guilty about having depression.

Ever since people found that I have been diagnosised, they were like ”it’s all in your head. People have worse than you. Jeez just try to be more positive. Nothing’s wrong in your life why are you still depressed?” etc. The thing is depression is an illness. They can’t understand that. I can’t just snap and be okay. This is not how it works. People may think you are doing it for attention too. Don’t mind them. Focus on yourself. Because believe me, I regret listening them, questioning myself because of their sayings. So instead of focusing on what they say, focus on yourself. Your healing, your recovery come first. Do not feel guilty, selfish or any kind of bad adjectives just because they can’t understand mental illnesses. It’s your battle, it’s your journey anyway. Do not let them make it bad for you. You are going to be okay, and you do not need those kind of people in that process.
Don’t be ashamed. End the stigma.
Start with yourself. Rest will follow.
