I Am A Survivor!
It is my desire and what I feel to be my life’s purpose to spread awareness of and advocate for those suffering with mental illness, eating disorders and suicidal ideation. Unfortunately, I understand all of them all too well. After having spent over 100 days in both in-patient and residential treatment settings since 2011, I have grown and learned so much that I want to reduce the stigma that goes along with these disorders. I have survived a lifetime of Major Depressive Disorder, Bulimia, Anxiety, Addiction and multiple suicide attempts.
I am a survivor. I want to help people better understand mental illnesses and lead them in the direction towards healing so that they, too, can be survivors. I want them to know that they are not alone.
Life experiences, coupled with my education in psychology and counseling, have given me the knowledge, desire, and passion to advocate for mental health awareness. It has also enabled me to help educate people on many mental health disorders. My passion is in my work- devoting my life to lessening the stigma surrounding mental illness and speaking to share my story, in hopes of not only educating, but also providing inspiration for others to seek professional help.
I am in the process of writing a book about my personal struggles with mental illness, as well as working in my community to increase awareness and teaching others how to reach out for help so they can live their lives to the fullest.
I feel that the struggles I have faced for so many years have led me to be able to reach out and now I see the bigger purpose. I am here to help end the stigma! I have seen lives changed through simply sharing my story and it enables my own healing.
“When you stand and share your story in an empowering way, your story will heal you and your story will heal someone else.”
