The 17th Summer

In the 17th summer of a loving relationship it had to end. At that time my sister had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and my father with senile dementia. Also my beef export business to Japan suffered due to an outbreak of Mad Cows’s disease and it was my decision to close it down. This overwhelmng combination that of loss of home, loss of loved ones, loss of my business I became very depressed and unable to sleep.  Rightly or wrongly I was diagnosed as bipolar and put onto medication which then enabled me to sleep. Insomnia can be a biproduct of depression. The lithium damaged my thryrod gland - so I was put onto a different medication.  None of this felt right. It was my decision to get off these medications. Luckily for me instinct told me to try fish oil (which worked) however post Fukushima due to contamination of the Pacific ocean fish oil was a worry. I substituted with HEMP oil (NOT cannabis oil) which not only worked but improved my physical health too.  My neighbour took my advice and put her autistic son onto small doses of hemp oil - a spoonful. On Saturday he spoke to me coherently and with meaning. That was one of the most memorable days in my life.
